Pet Vaccines

Why Vaccines Matter

Vaccines save lives. They help prevent serious issues that can hurt your pet’s health, spread to other animals or humans, or even cause death.

The vaccines we choose at Eno are safe and effective. Our vet pros make sure each vaccine is appropriate for your fur baby’s unique health condition and risk factors.

Our experienced medical team does more than simply give shots. We offer education, support, and compassionate care tailored to your pet. Your Eno humans believe in making sure your pet gets the right care at the right time.

Protecting your pet with vaccines is vital to spending many happy years together.

And vaccines are not just about protection. This kind of pet care represents your commitment to your fur baby’s long-term health and quality of life.

Protection Against Harmful Diseases

The Eno team is here to ensure your pet is up to date on vaccines.

Please note that North Carolina state law requires the rabies vaccine for all dogs and cats. Rabies is a public health risk and always fatal. Many other vaccines will protect your pet from severe disease and death.

On the proper vaccine schedule, your pet will be protected from crippling illness and highly contagious pathogens, some of which can infect humans.

Our care plans cover check-ups, core vaccines, and annual lab work. Save money and provide the best care for your fur baby.

At Eno Animal Hospital, we understand vaccines are a cornerstone of preventive care, helping pets live longer, happier lives. As a trusted local veterinarian, we provide personalized vaccine plans to shield pets from contagious illnesses, deadly diseases, and costly treatments.

Eno’s Personalized Vaccine Plans

No two pets are alike, so we customize each vaccine plan to your pet’s breed, age, medical history, traveling and boarding needs, and exposure to other animals and community events.

We use subcutaneous injections for minimal discomfort and prioritize timely administration to maintain immunity. Being Fear Free means our team is highly trained in calming techniques to help ease stress during vaccine shots.

Core & Recommended Vaccines: What’s the Difference?

Core vaccines are required, and additional vaccines enhance protection.

At every wellness check-up, our pet care team will help you determine the vaccine plan that’s best for your unique fur baby. We’ll also review previous vaccine dates and medical history, assess your pet’s overall health and address any concerns, administer vaccines, and offer guidance on post-vaccine care, including monitoring for reactions.

Vaccine Safety & Efficacy

In the history of vet medicine, there have been certain vaccines that were unsafe, others ineffective.

Dr. Grinstead has the expertise and high level of education necessary to make the right decisions when choosing which vaccines we administer. The vaccines we have chosen are safe and effective.

An adverse vaccine event is rare but can happen. This could include lethargy, swelling at the injection site, or an allergic reaction.

We monitor each pet after vaccines and adjust future vaccine schedules accordingly. Your pet’s safety is paramount.

Pet parents can also observe their fur babies in the hours after vaccines for signs like decreased appetite or scratching at the injection site.

If you’re unsure about your pet’s vaccine needs, our knowledgeable team is always ready to help. Reach out for guidance anytime.

Dog Vaccine Services

Core vaccines are required for all pups regardless of breed, environment, or lifestyle. Core vaccines for dogs include…

Canine rabies

Canine distemper/parvovirus

Bordetella

Other dog vaccines are required or recommended based on your pup’s activities, exposure, and health. These include…

Influenza (flu)

To protect all patients in our hospital, we require vaccines against influenza and Lepto for boarding.

Influenza is highly contagious and tricky to treat, making the flu vaccine imperative for pups who spend any time with other pups.

Lepto infection and Lyme disease, also highly contagious, are tied to local exposure to standing water, dog parks, and wooded or grassy areas where ticks thrive. Lepto is zoonotic, which means it can be spread from pets to humans, with children being especially at risk of Lepto infection.

Puppy vaccine schedule

Puppies must be on a precise vaccine plan in order to create their own immunity. We never know exactly when maternal antibodies will fade in your unique pup. If any boosters in the series are missed, your pup must restart the entire vaccine series to ensure protection is established.

Cat Vaccine Services

Cats need vaccines, too! Our feline friends should not be overlooked when it comes to protection. Regardless of lifestyle (indoor or outdoor), core vaccines for cats include…

  • Feline rabies
  • FVRCP
  • Feline leukemia, or FeLV, under one year of age

Remember, rabies is always fatal. The FVRCP vaccine protects against three serious viral infections, including distemper and upper respiratory illness.

The FeLV vaccine is recommended for adult cats if they engage in any outdoor activity, including basking on a screed-in porch.

Kitten vaccine schedule

Kittens must be on a precise vaccine plan in order to create their own immunity. We never know exactly when maternal antibodies will fade in your unique pup. If any boosters in the series are missed, your pup must restart the entire vaccine series to ensure protection is established.

Affordability & Timing

Most pets need annual vaccines to maintain protection. Our goal is to make vet care available and affordable.

We believe vaccine services should be accessible to all. That’s why our care plans completely cover core vaccines.

We’ll send you helpful reminders and updates to make sure you never miss a vaccine booster or essential check-up. You can even set up reminders and to-do lists yourself on our amazing PetPage app!
