Maxwell Brown
2010-2026
Nickname: Max and Pretty Boy
Favorite foods: Blueberries, lettuce, carrots
Favorite toy: Blue Porcupine, “Oh No” Boy, and Big Yellow Duck
Favorite activity: Playing fetch when he was younger, watching Pet TV as a senior
Favorite memory together: Max loved his fruits and vegetables. Any time he saw someone prepping them, he would stare up at you with his big eyes, perhaps put up a paw, and just give you this “you know you want to share with me” look. He was the only dog I know that would get excited about getting lettuce.
How did you meet your pet? My sister saw a man walking down our parents’ street carrying a little palm-sized puppy covered in fleas and ticks so she gave him money for the puppy. She returned to Durham the next morning (a Sunday), bringing the puppy to me.

I spent a good hour removing ticks and fleas gently from the little guy, then washed him, bottle fed him, and cared for him until the next morning when I could take him to my dog’s vet to be treated, get his puppy shots, etc. I took care of him for a few more weeks, until he transitioned to solid food.

Then he was gifted to another sister who needed a companion. That sister loved and spoiled Max until she passed away when he was about 2 and half years old. I took Max home with me, where he lived to the mature age of 16.
